What is C4 Extreme Pre Workout?

I’ve written a lot on this site, but so far I haven’t got into my experiences with pre-workout supplements. If you’re wondering what the C4 Extreme Pre Workout supplement is all about, then I’m going to answer that today, along with some other concerns about using supplements in general. I’m going to be reviewing Cellucor C4 Extreme soon and later on I’ll review some other pre-workout supplements to compare it with, such as NO Explode from BSN, which I have used before. As you may know from this site, I love finding new workouts to try out and diving right in. Lately I’ve been wanting to add some extra boost to my workout results and I’ve been looking into these supplements to provide that. What is C4 Extreme Pre-Workout Supplement About? First off, what is a pre-workout supplement anyway? These supplements are proprietary formulas with ingredients such as caffeine and creatine that are designed to give you energy and improve your performance in workouts. People generally tend to take...

Workouts that Boost Your Metabolism

In the last few weeks I’ve been discussing just what your metabolism is, whether you have complete control over it and what foods are potentially metabolism boosters. (Reminder – metabolism is defined here as all the chemical reactions going on in your body that are required to generate energy, which you need to live in order to breathe, digest food etc.) First we talked about people who believe they have a slow metabolism and think there is nothing they can do about it. I bust open a few myths and set the record straight there – everybody has a unique metabolism but there are always ways you can make changes to get the results you’re looking for. Then we went over what ‘boosting’ means and some great foods that will boost your metabolism. Boosting means you are improving the efficiency of the chemical reactions in your body. This means you can burn fat faster and build muscle faster. Remember also that the more muscle you have, the more energy...

5 Foods That Naturally Boost Your Metabolism

Last time I wrote about whether or not you may have a slow metabolism, and whether there is anything you can do about it, or if it is purely genetic. Everybody has a different metabolism, and it changes depending on our body shape and also as we age. However, you should never blame your own body for its metabolism. I firmly believe this is excuse-making, and if you look hard enough you will find some solutions. Boosting Your Metabolism What does it mean to boost your metabolism? This is quite a general term, and has a few different meanings to different people. We know that we have a basal metabolic rate, BMR, which is determined by our muscle mass. The more muscle we have, the more energy required to maintain those cells. As we age, we lose muscle mass and our metabolisms slow down. Your metabolism is the whole system of how your body digests food, burns calories and distributes nutrients around the body. If you want to boost...

Do You Have a Slow Metabolism?

I’ve heard it many times – people blaming their physical condition or weight loss woes on their metabolism. “I was born with it.” “I can’t change what I am.” This most commonly happens when you reach a plateau. You’ve exercised well and changed your diet, and you’ve even seen some results for all your effort, willpower and self control. You have great ambition though, so you’ve set yourself some lofty but attainable goals, and you’ve not got there yet. Then suddenly, your regime isn’t producing results anymore. You find you can’t lose another pound after cutting back on the calories and exercising frequently. The only logical solution left is that your metabolism is slow and at the heart of your problems. This isn’t always the correct diagnosis however, as we shall see. First, it’s important to get an understanding of what your metabolism is and how it really affects your ability to lose weight. What is Metabolism? The word ‘metabolism’ is quite broad and encompasses quite a lot. What...

8 Metabolism Boosters for Faster Fat Loss

I’ve written about the Top 3 Metabolism Triggers Under Your Control in another post, but did you know there are even more metabolic boosters you can put into play for that sexy, trim body you’re working so hard on? Your metabolism – more specifically, your metabolic rate – is how quickly your body is burning calories. So if you’re trying to lose weight, raising your metabolic rate means you’ll see results faster. Here’s a short list of some of the easiest (and maybe some not-so-easy) triggers that you can get working on your behalf beginning today! 1. Fidget Are you one of those knee jigglers? Do you tap your toes all day long? Twirl a pencil? Chew gum? Maybe you should try, because just that tiny difference is one more way to add a constant source of energy burn that could add up to as much as 300 to 400 calories per day. 2. Drink cold drinks Would you believe your body has to work to warm up those cold...

Can You Change Your Metabolism with Your Mind Alone?

There are some metabolic triggers that you have lots of control over (you can read about the Top 3 Metabolism Triggers here) and there are some you have less control over. And in the constant battle to live healthy and strong lives, the debate about metabolism has expanded into the mental arena. Just how much control over your metabolism can you exert with the power of your mind alone? It’s not a crazy question, and there’s even some science that supports several of the theories. We are whole people, and not just a collection of body parts. The way our mind works is intimately and intricately connected to the way our body operates. Check out these metabolic triggers that you may not have realized you could have control over… 1. Mentally and physically overcome stress The main chemical connected to metabolism and stress is cortisol. When you are under a lot of mental stress, your cortisol levels rise, and you tend to feel hungrier. If you’ve ever been a...
