Tony-HP90X, or Power 90 Extreme, is a 90-day home fitness course designed by Beachbody coach Tony Horton. Tony is a fitness guru perhaps best known for the P90X boot camp.

P90X is quite possibly the most popular home fitness course on the market today, but many people ask, “What equipment do you need for P90X?”

Today, I shall try to answer this question for you so you can get started as soon as possible with the right workout routine for you.

That’s the basic package right there. It’s a life-changing exercise program, and there is a great freedom to personalize it as you see fit. Now let’s see what equipment is necessary.

What Equipment Is Needed For P90X?

In fact, no gym or fancy equipment is necessary for P90X. That said, I’m going to outline some basic extras you will want to get, and then some advanced but highly recommended extras to really enhance your P90X exercise routine.

Basic Extras You Need

  1. pull-up-barP90X Pull Up Bar – you will make use of this in 3 of the 12 workout DVDs, so it’s quite important to have
  2. Dumbbells – really, this is a basic that anybody looking for a good workout should have in the home. They get used extensively throughout the P90X program, so again get your hands on a pair of dumbbells
  3. Resistance Bands – Alternatively, resistance bands can perform the same function as a pair of dumbbells. They both provide the resistance needed to work your muscles as hard as you can.

Advanced Extras – Optional

  1. Recovery-DrinkP90X Recovery Drink – you will most likely see the option to buy this in conjunction with the main P90X course. It is well worth the investment. You don’t have to worry about what to eat before or after your workout. Just sip this great tasting recovery drink after a good workout and your protein needs are taken care of.
  2. Yoga Mat – in reality, all you need is a small space of 6×6 feet to perform all the P90X workouts. However, a proper Yoga mat is very handy as a soft surface to cover hard wood floors, and makes everything a lot easier on your skin and joints
  3. Yoga Blocks – another optional extra that will go a long way. These help balance and stretch moves in some of the DVDs.

What is Needed For P90X – Dedication

Of course, what is really need for P90X is the right attitude. If you haven’t got your own P90X kit yet, then I wouldn’t worry too much about the extras you will need. It’s important you take ACTION right now, or you may find you’re always putting it off.

That being said, I want you to get off to the best start. I’ve found a great list on Amazon where you can learn even more about what equipment is needed for P90X. You can also purchase the full basic P90X course from here if you haven’t already done so:
